Brad Tavares Injured, Off TUF 27 Finale

The main event of next months UFC Ultimate Fighter 27 Finale has taken a blow as a foot injury has knocked Brad Tavares from the card.

Tavares’ opponent in Israel Adesanya is staying on the card and UFC President Dana White says they are looking for the main event fighters new opponent.

“We’re looking to put someone new in there with this kid,” said White to TMZ. “I’m excited about him.”

Neither Tavares or Adesanya has commented on the main event change, it was to serve as the first headlining bout for Tavares during his UFC tenure. Adesanya, who will stay on the card according to White, will headline his first ever UFC show. 

Brazilian slugger Thiago Santos has contacted White about taking the spot against Adesanya, but nothing has been finalized at this time.

“Thiago Santos said he will accept the fight, but I’m still looking and trying to figure this thing out,” White said. “Injuries are killing me, man.”

UFC Ultimate Fighter 27 Finale takes place on Friday, July 6 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada with Israel Adesanya and an opponent to be announced headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on Fox Sports 1.
