Brad Tavares Still Competing At TUF 27 Finale, Thiago Santos To Reportedly Be Plan B

MMA

Reports surfaced last week that Brad Tavares was going to be pulled from the UFC Ultimate Fighter 27 Finale due to a broken foot.

Tavares is not only still competing at the event, but says the report of his injury was simply a miscommunication with the UFC.

“It was a lot of just miscommunication and misinformation between some officials and some medical personnel,” Tavares said to KHON 2. “But the fight, it was never — at no point did I say I couldn’t fight or didn’t intend to fight or anything like that. It was just one little thing and it blew up into a whole big thing.”

When the reports of Tavares’ injury surfaced, another report stated that fellow middleweight Thiago Santos would take his place against Israel Adesanya.

A report from MMA Fighting is stating that Santos is going to be the plan B fighter if either Tavares or Adesanya cannot compete at the event. What that means is Santos will start actively training and cutting weight for the fight, plus he will also fly to Las Vegas just in case disaster does strike.

UFC Ultimate Fighter 27 Finale takes place on Friday, July 6 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada with Brad Tavares and Israel Adesanya headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on Fox Sports 1.
