Former UFC flyweight champion Brandon Moreno and surging contender Kai Kara-France are scheduled to rematch in a bout that will be for the UFC interim flyweight title at UFC 277 on July 30.
Journalist Ariel Helwani was the first to report the news of the matchup being in the works via his Substack, while additionally revealing current UFC flyweight champ, Deiveson Figueiredo is dealing with an injured finger which led to the interim title booking. Moreno and Kara-France's first meeting came back at UFC 245 in December 2019 with Moreno taking a unanimous decision victory. The 28-year-old Tijuana, Baja, California, Mexico native has gone 3-1-1 since then and will try to rebound from a unanimous decision loss to Figueiredo in their trilogy bout at UFC 270. Kara-France meanwhile is riding a three-fight winning streak and is coming off of a unanimous decision win over Askar Askarov at UFC on ESPN 33.
