As the inaugural season of the Professional Fighters League approaches, a big backstage move has been made by the promotion in the form of hiring UFC veteran Brian Stann as the leader for the fighter & competition/rules committee.
A press release sent out by the PFL states that Stann’s role “will play a major leadership role on the Fighter and Competition/Rules Committee in its efforts to support fighters by developing procedures and making recommendations with respect to competition format and rules, fighter care, and athlete conduct.”
Stann left the Fox Sports a little under a year ago to take a position at an unnamed real estate firm, it is unknown how this role with the PFL will have with his other position(s).
Either way, one thing Stann is excited about is to be a part of the PFL team.
“I am excited to be a part of the PFL in its vision to bring a new format and a new platform to professional MMA,” Stann stated in the press release. “I know first-hand the dedication, discipline and professionalism it takes to be an MMA athlete, and I am happy to contribute to their ability to compete at the highest level.”
PFL 1 takes place on Thursday, June 7 from The Hulu Theater At Madison Square Garden in new York, New York with Andre Harrison and Jumabieke Tuerxon headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on the NBC Sports Network.
