UFC lightweight champion Charles Oliveira is set to make the next defense of his title against former interim UFC lightweight champ, Justin Gaethje, at UFC 274 on May 7.
ESPN's Brett Okamoto was the first to report the news of the matchup, confirming the booking with UFC President Dana White. Oliveira is currently riding a ten-fight winning streak and is coming off of a third-round submission victory over former interim UFC lightweight champion, Dustin Poirier, at UFC 269. Gaethje meanwhile is 5-1 in his last six Octagon outings and will look to build on a unanimous decision victory in an instant classic fight with Michael Chandler back at UFC 268.
