Claressa Shields-Savannah Marshall Title Unification Bout Targeted For September

A middleweight title unification bout between undefeated champions Claressa Shields and Savannah Marshall has been set for September.

Boxing promoter Ben Shalom confirmed the news to Sky Sports, revealing that both fighters have signed on for the matchup with a target date of September 3 or 10 and the United Kingdom being the targeted location for the event.

Shields is the current WBA, WBC, WBF, IBF, and The Ring women's middleweight champion and is sitting at 12-0 as a pro. The two-time Olympic gold medalist is coming off of a unanimous decision win over Ema Kozin back in February in her latest outing. Marshall on the other hand is the current WBO women's middleweight champ and is also 12-0 as a pro. She defeated Femke Hermans via a third-round KO back in April in her most recent appearance.
