Conor McGregor Says He’s Negotiating For A July Return

Former two division UFC champion Conor McGregor was last seen in action at UFC 229, suffering a fourth round submission loss to UFC Lightweight Champion Khabib Nurmagomedov.

If the negotiations between McGregor and the UFC go right, it could see the former champion return to action this July.

“We’re currently in negotiations,” McGregor told ABC-7’s Larry Mowry during the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Chicago (via MMA Junkie). “We’re aiming for July – we’ll see what happens. I am staying ready. This morning I was doing incline sprints on the treadmill on my program, the McGregor F.A.S.T. program, staying in a hotel room. So we’re staying on it, getting work in as we go.”

McGregor has been reportedly interested in fighting Donald Cerrone, but negotiations apparently fell through because McGregor had allegedly just wanted to compete in main event fights.

Negotiations aside, one thing McGregor was happy to do was to attend the St, Patrick’s Day Parade.

“It’s great to be here, a young Irish man, and treated with such respected. It’s breathtaking for me and I’m very happy to be here,” McGregor said.

The fighter was recently arrested for destroying a fan’s cell phone and is due back in court on April 10 for arraignment.
