Former Bellator lightweight champion Michael Chandler has yet to officially make his UFC debut, but there is somebody who does want to fight him, with that person being Dan Hooker.
The UFC star doesn’t just want to fight Chandler, but he’d like to send Chandler back to the b-leagues.
“If Sean Shelby calls me right now and he says Michael Chandler, UFC two hundred and whatever, we can put that together, we can make that happen, of course,” Hooker told Submission Radio (via Jesse Holland of MMA Mania). “The UFC is putting a lot of stock in this kid. So I would love to be the guy who welcomes him to the UFC, knees his chin off, and sends him back to the B-Leagues.”
One can assume that the “b-leagues” in Hooker’s mind is Bellator, which is where Chandler spent the majority of his professional MMA career fighting at.
Chandler is the backup for the UFC 254 main event between UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov and UFC interim lightweight champion Justin Gaethje, so a potential bout against Hooker will have to be put on the back burner for now.
