UFC President Dana White says Jon Jones can relax.
Jones and Israel Adesanya recently had an exchange on Twitter that ended with Jones admitting that he hid under a cage to avoid a drug test from the Nevada Athletic Commission (NAC). White, when asked about the incident, doesn’t understand why Jones was hiding from the NAC, since they do not test for marijuana.
“They don’t test for marijuana,” said White during a recent media scrum (via Kristen King of Bloody Elbow). “If what he was worried about was marijuana, they don’t test for marijuana anyway. Well, pre-testing leading up. If it was within the fight window, he would’ve been here and he would’ve got tested anyway by the athletic commission. I don’t know anything about that, but unless you’re in competition, they’re not testing for marijuana anyway.”
Jones didn’t get punished by the NAC for that incident, but he would enter rehab for just one day a short time after the incident to battle other drug related issues.
