Khabib Nurmagomedov and Justin Gaethje will meet in a title unification bout next weekend in the main event of UFC 254 and Daniel Cormier will be in the commentary booth on that night.
DC is confident that Nurmagomedov can defeat Gaethje and also retire undefeated as a professional MMA fighter.
“I don’t know if anyone is going to beat him,” Cormier said during a recent media scrum (via Mike Bohn & John Morgan of MMA Junkie). “I’m confident in believing that Khabib will retire undefeated. Nobody will beat this guy. He is too committed to who he is supposed to be to get beat by anyone. … I just don’t know if anyone can beat this guy right now. No ’55-pounder should feel that strong when he grabs you.”
Nurmagomedov is currently 28-0-0 as a professional MMA fighter and has previously stated that he may retire when that record hits 30-0-0. Cormier also believes that Gaethje has the tools to defeat the dominant ground game of Nurmagomedov.
“With everybody, he tells you (what he’s going to do),” Cormier said. “But you’ve got to be able to stop it. He’s become so good at what he does that you’ve got to be able to stop it. Now, that’s why Justin’s the most dangerous, because Justin has the skill set to stop it.”
