Dustin Poirier Unsure Of Future Title Shot Chances Going Into UFC 281: "Nothing Is Ever Clear In This Sport"

Former interim UFC lightweight champion, Dustin Poirier, is unsure if a victory over Michael Chandler puts him in line for another title shot at 155 pounds.

Poirier spoke with reporters at the media day for this Saturday night's UFC 281 pay-per-view event in New York City ahead of his matchup with Chandler and explained while he doesn't know where a win this weekend puts him in the promotion's lightweight title picture, the 33-year-old Lafayette, Louisiana native does admit there are new opportunities for him now with a new champion in Islam Makhachev atop the division

“Nothing is ever clear in this sport, especially in the lightweight division,” Poirier said (h/t MMA Junkie). “But it definitely opens up the doors, there’s new opportunities, different fights make sense now, new opponents. We’ll see, but none of that matters until Saturday night.”
