Former interim UFC lightweight champion, Dustin Poirier, and top contender Michael Chandler have been booked for a bout on November 12 at a yet-to-be-announced UFC 281 event that is scheduled to take place from Madison Square Garden in New York City, New York.
Journalist Ariel Helwani was the first to report the news of the matchup being in the works on the latest edition of his show The MMA Hour, although the promotion has yet to officially announce anything regarding the booking or event. Poirier is 3-1 in his last four Octagon outings and will try to rebound from a third-round submission loss to former UFC lightweight champion, Charles Oliveira, at UFC 269 last December. Chandler, on the other hand, is 2-2 in his four UFC appearances since debuting with the promotion back in January 2021 and is coming off of a second-round KO victory over former interim lightweight champ, Tony Ferguson, at UFC 274.
Breaking: Multiple sources tell @arielhelwani a fight between Dustin Poirier and Michael Chandler is "close to being finalized" for UFC 281 on Nov. 12 at MSG.
