UFC Interim Lightweight Champion Tony Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov are set to clash for the undisputed lightweight title at UFC 223.

“I’m probably still going to end up fighting one of those guys. That fight probably is going to get scrapped,” Alvarez said on The MMA Hour. “They’re 0-for-3 there, so somebody might get scrapped, so I’ll be ready for that.”

Ferguson versus Nurmagomedov has been scheduled three times before, with both fighters pulling out of the bout due to injuries.

Alvarez was last seen in action at UFC 218, where he defeated former WSOF Lightweight Champion Justin Gaethje by third round knockout via knee strike.

As of this writing, both champion and challenger are still on the card, as neither have yet to pull out of the main event encounter.

UFC 223 takes place on Saturday, April 7 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada with Tony Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
