Enrique Barzola Dropping To Bantamweight

Enrique Barzola was last seen in action at UFC Fight Night Uruguay, defeating Bobby Moffett by way of split decision.

That win was the sixth for Barzola under the UFC banner, a win that left Barzola feeling like a more experienced fighter.

“I felt a more experienced fighter after this fight,” he said after the event (via Simon Head of MMA Junkie). “My opponent changed his strategy, the fight got different, and as a fighter, it was tough.”

While that sixth win in UFC competition was a big one for Barzola, it also could’ve been his last as a featherweight.

Barzola announced that he is planning on dropping to bantamweight before stepping back into the Octagon.

“My coach always tells me that I should not stop training, and I know that I can drop to bantamweight,” he said. “It is easy for me to cut to 145 pounds, and I think I will fight at 135 in my next fight. I will work on a good plan with my team, and we will start to focus on that.”

The surging Barzola isn’t the only fighter to recently announce a drop to bantamweight, as former UFC Lightweight Champion Frankie Edgar recently announced that he is dropping to 135 pounds.
