ESPN's Top Rank Boxing series and FOX's Premier Boxing Champions card on April 28 had some serious competition for viewership with numerous sporting events happening at the same time.
The April 28 Top Rank Boxing on ESPN card from Philadelphia, which was headlined by the WBO super bantamweight title fight between Jessie Magdaleno and Isaac Dogboe, averaged 701,000 viewers, according to Showbuzz Daily. Dogboe knocked out Magdaleno in the 11th round of a competitive fight to win the WBO title.
ESPN's next Top Rank Boxing card on the network takes place on May 12 at Madison Square Garden. That card will be headlined by the WBA lightweight title fight between Jorge Linares and Vasyl Lomachenko and feature fights from top prospects Michael Conlan and Carlos Adames.
FOX also held a Premier Boxing Champions card on April 28 headlined by Josesito Lopez vs. Miguel Cruz. That fight, which saw Lopez defeat Cruz by unanimous decision, averaged 839,000 viewers according to Showbuzz Daily. The PBC on FOX card also featured Anthony Dirrell's return to the ring and subsequent announcement that he plans to retire after his next fight.
FOX had stiff competition from the Boston Celtics vs. Milwaukee Bucks NBA Playoff game, which averaged 4.06 million viewers and the Las Vegas Golden Knights vs. San Jose Sharks NHL Playoff game, which averaged 2.213 million viewers.
