Adel Altamimi is set to make his Bellator MMA debut this weekend at Bellator 214, facing Brandon McMahan in a featherweight division affair.
The newly signed fighter is close friends with Guardians Of The Galaxy star Chris Pratt and it is a friendship that began while the two were training together.
“I met Chris awhile ago, I trained him in striking and MMA. We get a little bit close with each other as friendship, he invited me to his house and we both believe in God. We’re both warriors and we are just like really close friends, he’s a different kind of person in my life…he is like family to me. Really like a family (member) and not just a friend, he is like family to me,” says Altamimi in an exclusive interview with Fightful’s James Lynch.
Pratt is expected to be in attendance at Bellator 214 to support Altamimi when he faces McMahan.
Altamimi didn’t fight at all in 2018, but that didn’t come from a lack of trying by the fighter.
“I scheduled a couple of fights and the opponents backed out, being busy with my family and work is a lot of hours. I was scheduled (to fight) like three or four times last year, but it didn’t happen with King Of The Cage. I’m glad I got this opportunity with Bellator MMA and that’s like my home,” says Altamimi.
Bellator 214 takes place on Saturday, January 26 from The Forum in Inglewood, California with Ryan Bader and Fedor Emelianenko headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on the Paramount Network.
