Cory Sandhagen Says Confidence Was High Before Canceled Lineker Fight

Cory Sandhagen was set to be back in action next weekend at UFC Fight Night Brooklyn, after an injury to John Lineker canceled their upcoming fight.

The fighter is coming off a huge victory over Iuri Alcantara at UFC Fight Night Lincoln, a win that brought Sandhagen a lot of confidence.

“The confidence is very high, it brought a lot of confidence to me because you don’t really know how your going to act when your getting fired on and your in a really bad spot…the worst spot you could probably be in in a fight is what I was in. You don’t really know how your going to act when your actually there, you’d like to think that you would rise up to the occasion and your gonna make things happen…but you never really know until it happens. It brings me a lot of confidence (knowing that I) had that in me, its pretty (much) just natural and instinctual. That was very cool for me to learn about myself,” says Sandhagen in an exclusive interview with Fightful’s James Lynch.

That win was the second for Sandhagen under the UFC banner, with that other coming over Austin Arnett at UFC On Fox 27.

Outside of the Octagon, fans may catch Sandhagen checking out some Harry Potter films while listening to the symphony.

“No man, I don’t watch a lot of Netflix. I do watch a lot of stand up comedy, I actually just watched for the first time…Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix. I saw that last night with my girlfriend at the Colorado Symphony, like the symphony plays it while the movie plays. I’m really big into cool stories, kind of like a hero’s journey type story and Harry Potter follows those guidelines. Harry Potter was a good one that I watched,” says Sandhagen.

UFC Fight Night Brooklyn takes place on Saturday, January 19 from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York with Henry Cejudo and TJ Dillashaw headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on ESPN+.
