MAIN CARD
Jarrett Hurd (c) vs. Austin Trout: IBF Junior Middleweight Title Bout
Round 1: Trout begins with a right jab. Trout then starts to work the body. Hurd misses with the left jab. Trout is on offense throwing several body jabs. Trout gets a solid left uppercut to Hurd’s body in. Hurd is measuring up Trout while Trout continues to attack the body. Hurd lands a left punch followed by a right jab to Trout’s body. Trout lands a counter right upstairs.

Round 2: Trout lands a clean right jab to start the round. Hurd is starting to use the uppercut and nearly hits a low blow. Trout is still working the body but Hurd is a bit more active this round. Both men clinch and Trout continues to attack the body. Trout is now landing numerous uppercuts and Hurd is missing a lot of his punches. Trout continues to do well landing the jab. Trout lands a mean uppercut and Swift gets a short body shot in. Hurd lands a few punches near belt level to end the round.

Round 3: The round starts off with a slugfest and Hurd is landing his best punches to Trout. Trout isn’t afraid of Hurd and keeps landing hard shots upstairs. Hurd eats a short left body hook then lands a left hook of his own. Trout lands a lead left jab. Hurd lands a right body shot that nearly hurt Trout. Trout keeps throwing the lead left jab. Trout is back on offense. Hurd lands a good right jab and then a stiff counter left hook upstairs.

Round 4: Hurd is moving forward and pressuring Trout. Hurd throws a couple of short jabs to Trout’s body then goes for a nice right hook. Trout lands a left hook and then keeps landing shots but doesn’t hurt Hurd much. Trout now manages to catch Hurd off-guard with several uppercuts and is hurting him badly. Hurd lands a counter right and then a right jab. Fight turns into another slugfest. This fight has been incredible.

Round 5: Trout is landing the left hand very well so far. Hurd misses a sweeping right hand and gets hit with a short body hook by Trout. Trout is landing combinations, but Hurd is doing some damage. Trout lands a beautiful left jab. Trout gets caught on the ropes and his head gets rocked by a stiff jab. Trout is now moving back away until the two clinch. Trout lands a short right uppercut. Trout then follows up with several jabs. Both men land a few clean shots.

Round 6: Hurd is landing clean shots with his left hand. Hurd isn’t tired but is not as energetic as he was at the start of the third round. Trout keeps landing several combinations. Hurd is on defense but then suddenly lands a beautiful right uppercut. Trout lands a few uppercuts of his own. Trout keeps landing the hard shots and Hurd answers back and hurts Trout badly, nearly knocking out Trout.

Round 7: Both men exchange blows to start the round and Hurd has suffered a cut near the left eye. Trout lands a hard jab and Hurd answers back with one of his own. Trout is hurt again thanks to Hurd’s right hand, but Hurd’s face is covered with blood. Trout hurts Hurd but both men are still standing up. Trout is back again throwing combinations. Trout is now landing clean jabs but Hurd is back to landing power shots. Fight of the year candidate!

Round 8: Round starts with Hurd landing an incredible right hand to Trout. Trout is hurt again but isn’t down. Hurd throws a short right uppercut. Trout keeps landing the jabs, but Hurd is blocking them well. Both men trade combos for a while. Hurd lands a lead left jab to Trout’s face. Trout hits Hurd with a counter left hook and works the body.

Round 9: Trout and Hurd are back to landing short punches to each other’s bodies. Trout is circling around the ring. Trout is in the corner and Hurd unleashes a series of punches to Trout’s body. Trout lands a clean right hand to Hurd’s cut, but it’s gushing out blood anymore. Trout is wobbly and nearly falls. Trout’s right eye is extremely swollen. Trout lands a clean left hook. Hurd lands another right jab and then goes for a minor flurry to end the round.

Round 10: Hurd fires a series of left jabs to Trout’s face and most of the jabs land. Trout lands a hard left jab of his own. It’s now a battle of jabs here in the 10th round. Trout is put into the corner and Hurd goes to work. Trout gets out of danger, but Hurd is still pressuring Trout. Trout lands a right uppercut to Hurd’s chin. Hurd is now resorting to landing clubbing shots to Trout as Trout tries to keep circling around the ring. Trout is back into a corner for a second, but Hurd doesn’t throw a big shot. Hurd hurts Trout again at the end of the round.

In between rounds, they stop the fight and Hurd retains the title. This fight was special.

Jermell Charlo (c) vs. Erickson Lubin: WBC Junior Middleweight Title Bout
Round 1: Charlo and Lubin are squaring up, not throwing much to start the round. Lubin throws a very quick left jab, but misses. Not much action in the first half of the fight. Charlo lands a quick right jab. Lubin throws a couple of right jabs, but Charlo blocks them. Lubin lands a counter left hand. Charlo lands a surprise right uppercut and knocks Lubin out.

Erislandy Lara (c) vs. Terrell Gausha: WBA Junior Middleweight Title Bout
Round 1: Gausha starts with a few jabs being thrown. Lara throws a jab to the body. Lara lands a good left hand, but didn’t hurt Gausha. Lara throws a big overhand left, but Gausha blocked it. Lara blocks a right jab by Gausha. Lara then lands a left jab to Gausha’s body. Not a ton of action here in the first round. Both men clinch, but nothing comes off from the clinch. Lara throws a combination of punches, but not all land on Gausha.

Round 2: Gausha and Lara miss a lot of jabs early on and Gausha nearly hits a low blow to Lara. Gausha lands a clean right jab to Lara’s face. Lara has Gausha on the ropes and unleashes a few great punches. Gausha does the same to Lara, but Lara blocks Gausha’s punches. Lara pounces on Gausha who is on the defensive and lands a good right jab.

Round 3: Lara lands a solid right jab to Gausha. Both men trade several shots, but neither man is landing clean punches as the crowd is booing a boxing match for the first time tonight. Again, not a lot of to write about and this fight is a vast disappointment compared to the first two fights.

Round 4: Lara begins the round with a good jab to the body. Gausha responds with a combination which Lara blocks. Lara continues to attack the body with jabs. Lara landed a hard right punch to Gausha. Both men clinch and they attack each other’s bodies. Lara knocks down Gausha with a right hand. Lara is now pressuring Gausha and throwing more power combinations.

Round 5: The fight proceeds as it was in the first four rounds: boring and without much action to watch. Both men clinch, trade jabs and no one does damage.

Round 6: Lara throws a couple of jabs to the body and Gausha throws a jab, but misses. Gausha has Lara on the ropes, but doesn’t pose any danger as Gausha doesn’t bother throwing a punch. The two men clinch once more. Lara throws another jab to Gausha’s body. Gausha throws a counter left hand, but Lara manages to escape most of it.

Round 7: Gausha has brought life back to the Barclays Center and lands a mean right hand to Lara. Lara lands a couple of jabs. Lara then goes for a couple of uppercuts. The two men clinch and once again, the crowd boos both fighters.

Round 8: Lara splits Gausha’s defense with a solid jab. Gausha eats a two-punch combo from Lara and then Lara continues to pummel away at Gausha. Lara lands several hard body shots. Most of the crowd has left the building. This round was pretty uneventful.

Round 9: The crowd erupts into a “This is boring!” chant. That’s all you need to know about this round. Lara and Gausha barely throw anything this round.

Round 10: Lara starts to immediately attack Gausha’s body. Both men clinch. After the clinch, Lara throws a few stiff hooks to Gausha’s body, but Gausha pretty much blocks it. Lara continues to pressure Gausha and has Gausha taking body shot after body shot after body shot.

Round 11: Lara hits a 1-2 to Gausha. Gausha throws several hard punches, but Lara’s defense is too good and blocks those punches. Lara with another 1-2 combo that splits Gausha’s defense. Lara lands a hard counter left jab. Lara and Gausha exchange jabs to end the round.

Round 12: Lara and Gausha clinch and claw at each other near the ropes to start the round. Gausha throws a body shot and they clinch. Both guys trade jabs and they clinch again. Gausha lands another left hook upstairs, but it doesn’t hurt Lara. The fight ends with little to no action and lots of clinching. Very disappointing main event.
