WBO junior middleweight champion Maurice Hooker's latest title defense was a success and now is looking for big fights, mainly against WBC champion Jose Ramirez.
Regardless of what is next for Hooker, he intents on defending his title on DAZN, like he did so against Mikkel LesPierre on March 9. Before defeating LesPierre, Hooker spoke with Fightful where he told other fighters in the 140-pound division to fight on DAZN. When it comes to his opinion on the streaming service thus far, Hooker had positive things to say about the platform.
"DAZN is like PBC when it first came out. It was hot and everybody wanted to sign with them or fight on it. DAZN is just taking over with the app and it’s a big thing trying to get people in America. The fights give you a chance to be seen all over the world. DAZN treats you good and I love it. It is the next big thing coming out and everybody wants to sign with them," Hooker said.
It has been public knowledge that Hooker wants to fight Ramirez and hopes that the fight takes place on DAZN. While that may not be easy to do given that Ramirez fights on ESPN, Hooker took another opportunity after the fight against LesPierre to not only call out Ramirez but also Jack Catterall, who is the number-one ranked junior welterweight in the WBO rankings.
"I want the WBC title. Everyone come to DAZN! Anybody. Come to DAZN. Where’s Jack Catterall? He came all the way over here to watch me fight. Just wait young grasshopper, you will get your turn," Hooker said.
