Michael Bisping's coach Jason Parillo has witnessed many of his antics, but he's not shocked seeing Bisping act like that and hopes it translates to pay-per-view buys.
Parillo spoke to Fightful ahead of Bisping's UFC middleweight title defense against Georges St-Pierre at UFC 217 and Parillo spoke highly of Bisping's confidence heading into the fight. Parillo has coaches several MMA superstars, including BJ Penn and "Cyborg" Santos, and said Bisping's confidence is as good as anybody he's coaching right now.
"Michael's got the confidence of a champion and that's what it is. His confidence is definitely on the next level. He's been knocking guys out in the gym week in and week out. His confidence right now is as high as it can be. I don't necessarily like to compare him with my other fighters because they each have a different personality, but the confidence is where it is needed to be," Parillo said.
Of course that kind of confidence can be seen and heard whenever Bisping is on the mic or on camera. Bisping was very outspoken at a recent press conference, promising that he'll retire GSP. Parillo said Bisping's antics and brash demeanor doesn't surprise him and that it will serve to help sell the fight on pay-per-view.
"Nothing really surprises me anymore. It's entertaining. Georges is not one to talk shit and run his mouth, so somebody has to do it and it helps sell pay-per-views," Parillo said.
Bisping and GSP are headlining UFC 217 at Madison Square Garden on November 4. Not only will Fightful have complete coverage of UFC 217, but it will also do a live post-UFC 217 podcast on Fightful and on YouTube.
