Randa Markos is a short time away from again competing in the world famous Octagon, as she battles Marina Rodriguez at UFC Fight Night Sao Paulo.
One goal Markos had was to compete in Toronto at UFC 231, but then the Rodriguez bout came up, but Markos still has UFC 231 on her mind.
“I was actually looking forward to Toronto, I wanted to fight in Toronto really bad. My mindset was Toronto, but then this happened. Its a little quick for me, but I like to fight soon(er rather than later). I don’t want to wait so long, hopefully after this fight…if I come out safe and no injuries, hopefully I can fight before the years up,” says Markos in an exclusive interview with Fightful’s James Lynch.
Markos has yet to really find her footing in the UFC, having rotated wins and losses in her nine fight tenure with the promotion.
With the fight taking place in Silva’s home country of Brazil, one thing Markos doesn’t want to do is to leave the fight in the judges hands.
“Definitely, I don’t want another fight like (in) Mexico. So I’m definitely looking to finish the fight early and taking the fighter where I want it to go and keeping her there and trying to finish it as much as I can from there, definitely don’t want to wind up in a decision at the end. I have a feeling that it won’t go my way if its a close, close fight. I’m looking for the submission,” says Markos.
UFC Fight Night Sao Paulo takes place on Saturday, September 22 from the Ibirapueroa Gymnasium in Sao Paulo, Brazil with Jimi Manuwa and Thiago Santos headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on Fox Sports 1.
