Ryan MacDonald makes his UFC debut this Saturday Night at UFC Fight Night Nashville, facing Chris Gutierrez.

A lot of people enjoy Valentine’s Day for a wide variety of reasons, but MacDonald will always remember the holiday for getting word about his UFC debut.

“(I found out about my UFC debut on) Valentine’s Day actually, my new favorite holiday,” says MacDonald in an exclusive interview with Fightful’s James Lynch.

MacDonald is actually a late replacement opponent in this bout, but has had a little over a month to prepare for Gutierrez.

Some fighters have issues with weight cutting after taking short notice opportunities, but that doesn’t appear to be the case with MacDonald.

“(The cut is going) really well, like this morning…I woke up at 141 (pounds). It’s super easy for me, I take dieting really seriously…and nutrition. I have all my meals planned out and I don’t cook much because I hate cooking, so I have them all meal prepped and everything is easy for me. In my last fight, I didn’t do a water cut at all. I woke up on weight and that’s hopefully what we’re gonna do again,” says MacDonald.

UFC Fight Night Nashville takes place on Saturday, March 23 from the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee with Stephen Thompson and Anthony Pettis headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on ESPN+.
