We heard Stipe Miocic recently say that he'd be open to a run in pro wrestling, but Fightful has also learned that former UFC Welterweight title challenger Stephen "Wonderboy" Thompson would be open to giving it a go.
When speaking to Fightful's James Lynch recently, the accomplished welterweight was asked about the possibility of hitting the wrestling ring after his career concludes.
"Pro wrestling I think would be super cool to do," Thompson said with a laugh. "You see guys switch over and do appearances over there. You even see professional boxers over there. You see Floyd Mayweather, you see Ronda Rousey out there. It'd be cool and a lot of fun. I've been a fan of it. Never sat down and watched it on TV, but I love the acting, I love the athleticism that some of these big guys have. I think it'd be really cool to do. Heck yeah, man. I'd have to bulk up, though. Those guys are huge!"
Thompson said that his nieces and nephews watched it much more than he did, which allowed him to catch it here and there, but offered a ringing endorsement of the skill level associated with pro wrestling.
"Everybody gets into it. Even though it's planned out scenarios and fights, some of the best actors came from WWE. The Rock for instance. Those guys are awesome actors and athletes," said Thompson.
In the full interview, Stephen Wonderboy Thompson (14-2-1) talks about his win over Jorge Masvidal (32-12) at UFC 217 and the injury he suffered in that fight.
