Manny Pacquiao: Freddie Roach Is Never Out Of Team Pacquiao

When Manny Pacquiao announced that longtime trainer Freddie Roach was not going to be in his corner for his 2018 fight against Lucas Matthysse, many had thought that their partnership had come to an end.

That is until, Pacquiao brought back Roach to be a part of his training team alongside Buboy Fernandez for Pacquiao's pay-per-view fight against Adrien Broner. Pacquiao and Roach had spent many years together, with Roach being instrumental to many of the Filipino's world title victories.

In a recent media conference call, Pacquiao was asked by Fightful how did it felt having Roach back in his corner for this upcoming fight. Roach will be in Pacquiao's corner for the first time since Pacquiao's 2017 fight against Jeff Horn for the WBO welterweight title. Afterwards, Pacquiao stated that Roach will not join him for his fight against Matthysse, allowing Fernandez a chance to be a head trainer.

"Freddie's never out of Team Pacquiao it just happened that I wanted Buboy to experience being a head trainer in one fight. But it's a good thing that we're working here again and I like to be back here in Wild Card Gym in Los Angeles and back again in Las Vegas for a fight. I think that it's good for us to be united and focused for this coming fight next week," Pacquiao said.

Fightful will have a live results page for the fight between Pacquiao and Broner, for the WBA "Regular" welterweight title, which will headline a pay-per-view from the MGM Grand Garden Arena. You can listen to Pacquiao talking to Fightful in the video at the top of the page.
