Sergio Pettis has been near the top of the UFC's Flyweight division for quite some time, while his teammate CM Punk left the top of WWE for a career in the UFC.
When speaking to Fightful.com's James Lynch ahead of his UFC 218 fight with Henry Cejudo, Pettis revealed that while he doesn't train with CM Punk, the former WWE Champion has been in the gym at Roufusport preparing for what's next.
"Mostly I don't train with CM Punk. I stay with the little guys, I don't need to hurt myself working with bigger guys. He is training. He's been there, he's been putting in the work. I don't know if he has anything planned, but he's been training," Pettis told us.
Punk has been known to be blunt, and often rubs some the wrong way, but Pettis sees Punk as a benefit to have in the gym, complimenting the 39-year old.
"He's a great guy. Coming from such a different sport making some great money to come to the UFC and get punched in the face and submitted. It's a humbling experience for him, I think, but he's embraced it. It's cool to have him around. He's got a good presence, good attitude. Honestly, I didn't know who he was, I heard he was a wrestler, looked him up. I just see him as a normal person," said Pettis
Unfortunately for Pettis, he came up short in his effort to gain a UFC Flyweight Championship fight as he was defeated by Cejudo at UFC 218.
