Jamie Moyle is a mere few days away from stepping back into the Octagon when she faces Emily Whitmire at UFC 226.
Many fighters over the years have suffered injuries before, during and after UFC bouts, but an injury Moyle suffered before UFC 220 may be the oddest of them all.
“So what happened was…I sleep on my couch and I have like little meditation pillows on the floor. I had my phone plugged in in the kitchen and my alarm went off, so I’m walking in the dark to go turn my alarm off and I stepped on this big thick meditation pillow and my ankle just like rolled over and popped. It was pretty bad, but after a month I was able to like walk and run and do everything like that. It took another month and a half to just heal it, I have a really phenomenal strength and conditioning coach. His name is Russ and he is also a physical therapist, he did a lot of work on it and gave me some strengthening exercises. Its a hundred percent now and everything’s great,” says Moyle in an exclusive interview with Fightful’s James Lynch.
Moyle currently has a 1-1-0 record under the UFC banner, so a win at UFC 226 can go a long way for the fighter’s future in the promotion.
Outside of recovering from the aforementioned ankle injury, weight cutting seems to be an issue with many fighters in the UFC, but Moyle isn’t having any issues heading into UFC 226.
“I always eat healthy, like six to eight weeks before my fights. Weight cuts been going good, I have been staying on track. Feeling great…feeling strong, feeling just really, really fit. Weights coming off nicely and I’m making my way to 115,” says Moyle.
UFC 226 takes place on Saturday, July 7 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada with Stipe Miocic and Daniel Cormier headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
