Ben Nguyen is back in the Octagon this Saturday Night At UFC Fight Night Adelaide, facing Wilson Reis in a flyweight division encounter.

Rumors have started surfacing saying that the men’s flyweight division could be ending in the UFC, which is something that surprised Nguyen.

“I was surprised, we all had the feeling it was going to happen, but we didn’t think it was gonna happen right now. Especially after the champion(ship) changed with (Henry) Cejudo getting the belt…you’d think. I was thinking it was going to mix up the bag a little bit…things were going to start to take off, then it was rumored to get cut. No idea (whats going to happen) and now they are doing TJ and Cejudo,” says Nguyen in an exclusive interview with Fightful’s James Lynch.

Henry Cejudo is defending the UFC Flyweight Title against UFC bantamweight Champion TJ Dillashaw in the main event of UFC 233, which could serve as the final men’s flyweight bout in UFC history.

Nguyen may be fighting Reis on Saturday Night, but Nguyen feels this bout will play out the same way a fight against Jussier Formiga did at UFC 221, but this time Nguyen will get the victory.

“Its going to be very similar to my last fight with Jussier (Formiga), Jussier and Wilson are both very similar. Brazilian and you know…guns in the ground, he knows that he’s gonna want and try to take me down and stuff. I’ve made adjustments to stop that, he’s gonna be surprised when I come out and fight him,” says Nguyen.

UFC Fight Night Adelaide takes place on Saturday, December 1 from the Adelaide Entertainment Centre in Adelaide, Australia with Junior Dos Santos and Tai Tuivasa headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on Fox Sports 1.
