Rafael Lovato Jr. defeated Gegard Mousasi by majority decision last month at Bellator London to capture the middleweight title.

The former champion believes that the newly crowned title holder was using illegal substances during their bout in London.

“I should have won this match even with him using PEDs,” Mousasi said to Spike TV (Dutch version) (via Giovanni Tjin of MMA Junkie). “I told the commission that it’s clear that he was on PEDs. (The commissioner) gave me a pat on the shoulder and told me that he was going to get tested on fight day and walked away.”

The Mohegan Tribe Department of Athletic Regulation and the Association of Boxing Commissions handled drug testing for the event, since there is no athletic commission in England.

Mike Mazzulli is the head of the Mohegan Tribe of Athletic Regulation and the Association of Boxing Commissions and he says that both fighters were tested on fight day.

“I did grab him on the shoulder and say, ‘Every time you fight, you ask me to test all the opponents, and I said that to you and your manager,'” Mazzulli said. “Mousasi knows I tested him, because I was out there taking urine from him. So I don’t know what he’s stating, but both tests came back negative.”

No drug test failures have been announced in line with the event at this time, it is also unknown at this time as to how many fighters were tested at the show.
