Joaquin Buckley scored one of the greatest knockouts in UFC history when he defeated Impa Kasanganay at UFC Fight Island 5.
It has been almost a month since that highlight reel knockout and Buckley is planning on getting another one at UFC 255.
“Strike while the iron is hot,” Buckley told MMA Junkie. “With this devastating knockout that I just had over Impa, I’m definitely looking to do it again with this fight coming up against another undefeated fighter in Jordan Wright, and I definitely think I have the capabilities of doing another outstanding knockout, for sure. I want to get a first-round finish against Jordan Wright, but we’re not gonna force it. We’re just gonna let things flow the way they should, but I’m always looking for the finish, no matter what.”
Buckley faces Jordan Wright at UFC 255 and Wright is a knockout artist as well, having picked up six of 11 wins by way of KO/TKO. The fighter also believes a better version of himself will make it to the Octagon at UFC 255.
“I was by myself for the majority of it, but I ended up running into my guys Justin and Mike and they were able to fill in for me, to be in my corner, which is so nice,” Buckley said. “Actually, I’m training with these guys, Joaquin Murcielago out in Michigan, Lansing, for this fight camp for Jordan Wright, so we should be nice and ready for this fight because, for the last two fights that I had, I had no sparring. So my fight camps were just a little weird, hitting the heavy bag, doing little stuff like that, shadowboxing, but now I’m gonna have guys to work with, teammates to work with and sparring partners so this fight should come out pretty good for me.”
