Jon Jones Says DC Can Beat Brock Lesnar

Two division UFC champion Daniel Cormier is expected to defend the heavyweight gold against former UFC Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar in 2019.

Former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones and DC have had one of the most intense rivalries in the sport, but Jones still would pick Cormier to defeat Lesnar.

“I’m definitely very excited to see Cormier fight Brock Lesnar,” Jones said on CBATKA TV. “I think Daniel Cormier wins the fight. He’s just too fast. I feel like when I fought him he was quicker than me with certain combinations. I can only imagine he’s going to be a lot quicker than Brock Lesnar.”

Jones did defeat DC in their first encounter at UFC 182, but Jones second win over DC at UFC 214 was overturned to a no contest after he failed a USADA issued drug test.

The former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion may be supporting DC against Lesnar, but Jones knows who would win if they have a third fight.

“I think fighting Daniel Cormier at heavyweight would be a bigger challenge,” Jones said. “He’s more comfortable there. His body type, that’s where he wants to be. He wants to be big. I think he would be a tougher fight at heavyweight, but I still believe I would win. I believe I have his number. I know how to beat him.”

There is no word yet on when Jones will return to action, as the fighter is still awaiting punishment for the failed drug test in line with UFC 214.
