Juan Archuleta is the Bellator bantamweight champion and his first title defense is expected to be against Sergio Pettis, with that title defense possibly being a few months away.
The defending champion says that the potential title bout could happen in the first Bellator card of 2021.
“Our next fight, we’re shooting for the first (card) of the year – the first card back (in 2021) against Sergio Pettis,” Archuleta said on Live With Kelly & Ryan (via MMA Junkie). “That’s the fight I originally wanted for the belt.”
Archuleta won the title this past September at Bellator 246, defeating Patrick Mix by unanimous decision. There has been no comment yet from either Bellator officials or Pettis as to when the potential bantamweight title bout will be going down. Bellator also doesn't have any events officially announced for 2021 at this time.
