Former interim UFC lightweight champion, Justin Gaethje, is looking forward to his upcoming bout with Michael Chandler at UFC 268 on November 6.
Gaethje spoke with The Schmo recently and talked about how Chandler's style of fighting is one that should provide a favorable matchup for the fans. He also believes that once the former Bellator lightweight champion feels his power, that Chandler will be the first one to shoot in for takedowns despite his claims of being ready to bring the violence to Gaethje.
“The dude comes to fight,” Gaethje said (h/t MMA Fighting). “He loves fighting just as much as me. Styles make matchups and this is a stylistic matchup for the fans. Someone’s gonna get knocked out. Unless he turns into a b*tch and tries to turn this into a wrestling match the whole time. He’s talking about timid souls taking a step backwards. He’s gonna be a timid soul when he starts shooting for legs because he doesn’t like the power. That’s what I think.”
Gaethje is looking to rebound from his second-round submission loss to former UFC lightweight champion, Khabib Nurmagomedov, back at UFC 254 in October 2020. Chandler, on the other hand, is also trying to bounce back from a loss in a title fight, he was TKO'd in the second round by current UFC lightweight champion, Charles Oliveira, at UFC 262 in his most recent Octagon appearance.
