After discussing his hopes to "bridge the cap to the title", Leon Edwards has now seemingly singled out one contender in particular.
Edwards (17-3) has won seven straight and currently stands at 11th in the UFC Welterweight standings. Most recently, he outpointed Gunnar Nelson in London, the perfect follow-up to his main event decision win over Donald 'Cowboy' Cerrone. Edwards has only lost twice in the UFC and just once following his promotional debut. The owner of that defeat is current UFC Welterweight Champion Kamaru Usman, a feat that Edwards now looks to replicate himself.
With that in mind, Edwards has chosen his ideal next foe, singling out Rafael dos Anjos and providing a timeline too.

Dos Anjos (29-11) is currently 3rd in the Welterweight standings, recently snapping a two fight losing streak at UFC Fight Night Rochester. On that night, dos Anjos welcomed Kevin Lee to 170 lbs with a loss, submitting his foe in the 4th round. Dos Anjos has recently reiterated his title aspirations, hoping to become a two-time champion after winning the Lightweight crown in 2015. Like Edwards though, dos Anjos has already suffered a defeat opposite Usman.
