Gilbert Burns is no longer facing UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman in the main event of UFC 256 and Leon Edwards may have a solution to Burns’ problem.
Edwards took to Twitter to challenge Burns to a no. 1 contenders fight in the main event of UFC 256:
December 12th title fight has been postponed. #UFC256 needs a main event! @GilbertDurinho you little tree stump, you have nowhere to run now!
— Leon 'Rocky' Edwards (@Leon_edwardsmma) October 6, 2020
Let's see who the REAL number one contender is! @ufc @UFCEurope @danawhite
Burns has yet to respond to the challenge from Edwards, but the title bout against Usman is expected to be rebooked for early 2021. Edwards, who is in the midst of an eight-fight winning streak, has not competed since July 2019. UFC 256 still does not have an official main event as of this writing.
