A pair of lightweight competitors will do battle at UFC Fight Night 110 as Alex Volkanovski will see action against Mizuto Hirota.
Volkanovski (14-1-0) has already fought once under the UFC banner, defeating Yusuke Kasuya by second round TKO at UFC Fight Night 101. Volkanovski has also held the Pacific Xtreme Combat Lightweight Champion, defeating Yusuke Yachi to win the belt at PXC 50 in December 2015. Volkanovski hasn’t suffered a defeat in almost four years, with that last loss coming to Corey Nelson at Australian Fighting Championships 5 in May 2013.
Hirota (18-7-2) has won just one of four fights during his time in the UFC, defeating Cole Miller and fighting Teruto Ishihara to a draw, while dropping fights to Rani Yahya and Rodrigo Damm. Hirota made it to the finals of the UFC Road To Japan reality show, but fought Teruto Ishihara to a draw in the finals. Hirota also spent a good portion of his career competing in the Shooto promotion, where he earned a total of six professional MMA wins.
UFC Fight Night 110 takes place on Saturday, June 10 from the Vector Arena in Auckland, New Zealand with Derrick Lewis and Mark Hunt headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event.
