Luana Carolina and Ariane Lipski are set to collide next month at UFC Fight Night: Eye vs. Calvillo.
The fighter, who hails from Brazil, is undergoing strict coronavirus testing before she steps into the Octagon against Lipski.
“Capital da Luta provided COVID-19 tests not only for her and myself since Luana signed the bout agreement,” Carolina’s coach Lucas Martins told MMA Fighting. “But also two professional athletes that live in a lodging I have, and we’re doing weekly tests to guarantee the safety of Luana and their family, because their parents are a bit older.”
Brazil is one of the countries hit hardest by the coronavirus, with WorldOMeters reporting that 411,821 people diagnosed with the virus and 25,598 passing away due to it.
Coach Martins says that at least six tests are done a week to ensure the safety of Carolina as she trains for the June 13 fight.
“We’re doing six tests a week so Luana has the confidence to train well and have the best camp possible in the midst of this pandemic,” Martins said.
UFC Fight Night: Eye vs. Calvillo takes place on Saturday, June 13 from a location to be announced with Jessica Eye and Cynthia Calvillo headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, while broadcast plans have yet to be announced.
