Luke Rockhold Decides Against Retirement, May Fight By The End Of 2020

Former UFC middleweight champion Luke Rockhold has hinted at retiring from professional MMA competition in late 2019.

However, it appears that Rockhold has had a change of heart, because the former middleweight champion could be returning to action by the end of this year and may also be returning to the middleweight division.

"Because I felt like it," is what Rockhold texted to Ariel Helwani of ESPN when the fighter was asked about why he was making a comeback.

Rockhold, who also had shoulder surgery earlier this year, has won just one of his last four under the UFC banner, with that lone win coming over David Branch at UFC Fight Night Pittsburgh. Rockhold did have a one off at light heavyweight, which was a second round knockout loss to Jan Blachowicz at UFC 239.

The former middleweight champion will have a tough road ahead when he does return to action, as Rockhold isn’t ranked anymore at middleweight and the fighter hasn’t picked up a victory in nearly three years.
