Mairbek Taisumov has suffered a shoulder injury and he’s off of this months UFC Fight Night 109 card, where he was set to fight Joaquim Silva.
The following announcement was made on the Team Taisumov Facebook page:
“Unfortunately Mairbek has injured his shoulder and has to pull out of the card in Sweden. Let's hope that the injury isn’t very serious and he will be able to fight this fall in one of the events in Europe!”
Silva is expected to remain on the card at the moment, but the UFC has yet to secure a late notice opponent for him to fight.
Silva (9-0-0) has already earned two victories under the UFC banner, defeating both Nazareno Malegarie and Andrew Holbrook. Silva has also seen eight of his nine wins come by way of first round finish, with the Brazilians UFC debut at UFC 191 being the lone fight to leave the first round. Silva competed on the UFC Ultimate Fighter Brazil 4, making it to the semi-finals before losing to Glaico Franca by submission.
UFC Fight Night 109 takes place on Sunday, May 28 from the Ericsson Globe in Stockholm, Sweden with Alexander Gustafsson and Glover Teixeira headlining. Fightful will be providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on Fox Sports 1.
