Marc Diakiese Wanted To Be Released Before UFC London

Marc Diakiese competed on the preliminary card of UFC Fight Night London, defeating Joe Duffy by unanimous decision.

The fighter entered the bout while in the midst of a three fight losing streak, which is why he wanted to get released before the event.

“After the last fight, I wanted to get released (from contract), because I felt I’m young and learning, but I’m getting beat by mistakes,” Diakiese said after the event (via Steven Marrocco & Abbey Subhan of MMA Junkie).

Those losses during the losing streak came to Drakkar Klose, Dan Hooker and Nasrat Haqparast.

If there was one big lesson that Diakiese learned during the losing streak, it would be to make smarter decisions when choosing fights.

“I’m just going to be a lot smarter now, not just taking fight after fight,” he said. “I’ll take my time and see what’s next.”

Diakiese has a 4-3-0 record under the UFC banner, with the last win before UFC Fight Night London coming over Teemu Packalen at UFC Fight Night 107 in March of 2017. There is no word at this time as to when Diakiese wants to return to the Octagon or whom that bout could come against.
