Marion Reneau Talks Sara McMann Matchup, Germaine De Randamie & Murder Mysteries

MMA

At 40 years old, Marion Reneau could be on the hottest streak of her UFC career, and has her biggest opponent yet in Orlando in former UFC title challenger Sara McMann.

The #8 ranked bantamweight has never been stopped in her MMA career and is unbeaten in her last three fights -- although media and fans nearly unanimously thought that should be extended to four due to a controversial decision loss to Ashlee Evans-Smith. Reneau was to be rewarded last year with a fight against former UFC Champion Germaine de Randamie, who pulled out of the bout.

"I don't know if she's ever going to fight again. I'm pretty sure she's going to, she's been posting a little bit on Instagram. I suppose she might fight. As far as me and her fighting, I don't know. If she does she'd have to come down this way as opposed to me making the trip out there," said Reneau.

In addition to being scheduled against De Randamie last year, Reneau went to (another) controversial draw with Bethe Correia in 2017. After being slated to fight yet another former title challenger in Tonya Evinger in Orlando, Evinger would be replaced by Sara McMann -- giving Reneau the unique distinction of being set to fight four different former UFC title challengers in under a year.

With a win over the seventh ranked McMann, Reneau could put herself closer to a title fight in a division lacking contenders.

"I see it being a grueling fight. We're going to test each other the first round to see where we're at, and come the second and third round I think we're going to have a good show for everybody. I keep asking for a top ten opponent. I'm trying to propel myself forward. My ultimate goal is to fight for the title. I'm not overlooking Sara," said Reneau

In the full interview, Marion Reneau (8-3-1) discusses her upcoming fight against Sara McMann (11-4) at UFC on FOX 28 on Feb. 24. Marion also talks about her win over Talita Bernardo, her training camp for this fight and what she's watching on Netflix.
