Mark Hunt Says UFC Forcing Him To Fight At UFC 209

Mark Hunt hasn’t competed since the fight with Brock Lesnar at UFC 200, he will be returning to the octagon at UFC 209 against Alistair Oereem.

Hunt, who is currently in the process of suing the UFC (plus UFC President Dana White and Brock Lesnar), says the promotion is backing him into a corner at UFC 209.

Eight Biggest Upsets in MMA in the Last Year

“They put me in a position, like well what am I supposed to do?” Hunt said on The MMA Hour. “They forced this fight on me, pretty much.”

Hunt actually wants out of his UFC contract, but the UFC would not grant him said release, so he will be in the promotion until his current deal expires.

“I couldn't go anywhere else,” Hunt said. “That’s the position right now it is. If I couldn’t work anywhere else and I'm still trying to get my fair deal in this thing, what am I supposed to do? If they're going to let me go, let me go. At least I can go work somewhere else. I've gotta look after my family and my commitments as well. And they can't just sit me at the back of the bus without having any work. You can't do that.”

UFC 209 takes place on Saturday, March 4 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada with Tyron Woodley and Stephen Thompson headlining.
