Marlon Vera Believes Victory Over Rob Font At UFC Vegas 53 Puts Him In Title Contention: "A Win This Saturday Puts Me Right There"

UFC bantamweight contender Marlon Vera believes a victory over Rob Font would put him right in line for a title shot.

Vera spoke with reporters at the media day for Saturday night's UFC Vegas 53 event and explained why he thinks if he were to defeat Font this weekend, he would be in the discussion to receive the next shot at current UFC bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling's title.

“I believe a great win on Saturday night would put me in title contention,” Vera said (h/t MMA Junkie). “Depending on how the cards are played at the top, it’s either I can go straight for the belt or I have another fight. But a win this Saturday puts me right there. I’ve got a lot of tough opponents in front of me, a lot of former champions. I feel like all that and fighting at the top consistently will just make me a better fighter and make me more dangerous for future fights."
