A junior lightweight title unification bout between champions Mikaela Mayer and Alycia Baumgardner has been set for the second half of the year.
Top Rank Boxing made the announcement that they've secured the rights to a Mayer-Baumgardner clash via an official press release on Monday. Nothing has been confirmed yet in terms of an official date or location for the fight, but according to Top Rank's press release they're targeting "late summer/early fall" for the matchup.
Mayer is the current WBO, IBF, and The Ring women's junior lightweight champion and is undefeated as a pro, sitting at 17-0. She's coming off of a unanimous decision win over Jennifer Han back in April in her latest outing. Baumgardner on the other hand is the current WBC and IBO women's junior lightweight champ and is 12-1 as a pro. She defeated Edith Soledad Matthysse via a unanimous decision also back in April in her most recent appearance.
