New Coach Says Colby Covington Isn’t A Southpaw, Gilbert Burns Calls Him “Pillow Hands”

Former UFC interim welterweight champion Colby Covington is now training at MMA Masters, where the fighter learned that he wasn’t a southpaw.

Everything began when striking coach Cesar Carneiro realized that Covington wasn’t a southpaw, but instead an orthodox fighter.

“He’s not a southpaw and we found that out,” Carneiro said to Ag Fight. “He is right-handed, and in wrestling he puts his right leg in front to knock it down. In training we saw that he never felt comfortable making the right, so he didn’t knock anyone out. But now it has changed and everyone will see it. Before, he took the right and dropped his hand, so he took another one.”

Burns wasn’t impressed by the news of Covington actually being an orthodox fighter, would call Covington “pillow hands” on Twitter:

Covington has picked up 15 wins as a professional MMA fighter, with just two of those wins coming by way of KO/TKO.
