A highly anticipated middleweight division attraction has been reported for UFC 230 between Paulo Costa and Yoel Romero.
There is just one problem with everything according to Costa, which is that Romero has yet to sign the contract for the fight.
“I’ve signed the contract, it’s on for me,” Costa told MMA Fighting. “He has his contract already, he’s just needs to get up the courage and sign it. But he will sign it. He doesn’t have anyone else to fight.”
Romero has been teasing a move up to the light heavyweight division as of late, with his last fight being a loss to UFC Middleweight Champion Robert Whittaker at UFC 225.
The Cuban fighter has had issues making weight in the past, but Costa does so a bright side if Romero comes in heavy for their potential UFC 230 encounter.
”The fact that he has trouble make weight cheers me up,” Costa said. “It’s 20 percent more going to my pocket. Everything I want is him to miss weight. Get there heavy and give me my 20 or 30 percent. Thirty is even better. That’s all I want. Yoel Romero, eat a lot and get there heavy, please. I want your 30 percent.”
UFC 230 takes place on Saturday, November 3 from Madison Square Garden in New York, New York with no main event announced at this time. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
