Former UFC bantamweight champion, Petr Yan and rising contender, "Suga" Sean O'Malley are set to clash at UFC 280 on October 22 in Abu Dhabi.
O'Malley confirmed the booking himself on Wednesday during an interview with former NFL player, Ryan Clark, on a special edition of his show DC & RC.
"I'm getting the fight that I wanted and the fight that the people want," O'Malley said (h/t ESPN). "In my eyes, Petr is the No. 1 contender right now. He's pretty much 1-1 against Aljo, he could be considered the champion. Going in there and stepping up against a guy like Petr is exciting, it's motivating and it's the biggest fight in the bantamweight division right now."
The 27-year-old bantamweight star is 3-1-1 in his last four Octagon outings and is coming off of a no-contest caused by an accidental eye poke, against Pedro Munhoz at UFC 276. Yan on the other hand is 1-2 in his last three fights and will look to bounce back from a split-decision loss to current UFC bantamweight champion, Aljamain Sterling, in their rematch back at UFC 273.
