Report: Alexander Gustafsson vs. Fabricio Werdum Added To UFC Fight Night: Whittaker vs. Till

A heavyweight division attraction has been added to UFC Fight Night: Whittaker vs. Till as #14 Fabricio Werdum faces #8 (Light Heavyweight) Alexander Gustafsson.

Raphael Marinho of Combate first reported the news, but the bouts spot on the card isn’t known at this time.

Werdum (23-9-1) enters the contest riding a two fight losing streak, dropping bouts to the duo of Alexander Volkov and Alexey Oleinik. Werdum hasn’t picked up a win in over two years, with that last win coming over Marcin Tybura at UFC Fight Night Sydney. Werdum is a former UFC Heavyweight Champion, defeating Cain Velasquez to win the gold at UFC 188.

Gustafsson (18-6-0) is coming out of retirement, which the fighter announced after a loss to Anthony Smith at UFC Fight Night Stockholm. Gustafsson hasn’t earned a victory in over three years, with that last win coming over Glover Teixeira at UFC Fight Night 109. Gustafsson has previously challenged for the UFC Light Heavyweight Title, losing twice to Jon Jones and once to Daniel Cormier.

UFC Fight Night: Whittaker vs. Till takes place on Saturday, July 25 from a location to be announced with Robert Whittaker and Darren Till headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, while broadcast plans have yet to be announced.
