A bantamweight division attraction has been added to UFC Fight Night: Lewis vs. Oleinik as Ali Alqaisi faces Irwin Rivera.
MMA Junkie first reported the bout, which is expected to be a part of the preliminary card.
Alqaisi (8-3-0) is making his UFC debut in this encounter and does so on the strength of a five fight winning streak. Alqaisi hasn’t suffered a defeat in almost three years, with that last loss coming to Yinna Bao at Kunlun Fight MMA 14. Alqaisi is also competing for the first time in almost a year, as his last bout took place on November of last year.
Rivera (9-5-0) is winless thus far under the UFC banner, having dropped a bout to Giga Chikadze at UFC Fight Night: Overeem vs. Harris. Rivera is a former Titan FC Bantamweight Champion, but he relinquished the title upon signing with the UFC. Rivera has picked up nine wins as a professional MMA fighter and five of them came by way of KO/TKO.
UFC Fight Night: Lewis vs. Oleinik takes place on Saturday, August 8 from the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada with Derrick Lewis and Aleksei Oleinik headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on ESPN+.
