Modestas Bukauskas needed a new opponent for UFC Fight Night: Kattar vs. Ige after the withdrawal of Vinicius Moreira and now he has one in the form of Andreas Michailidis.
Sportas. It first reported the news and the bout is expected to remain a part of the preliminary card.
Bukauskas (10-2-0) enters the bout on the strength of a six fight winning streak and he hasn’t suffered a defeat in over four years. Bukauskas is a former Cage Warriors Light Heavyweight Champion, defeating Marthin Hamlet at Cage Warriors 106 to win the gold. Bukauskas has competed twelve times as a professional MMA fighter and just one of those bouts went the distance.
Michailidis (12-3-0) is also making his UFC debut in this bout and does so while riding a three fight winning streak. Michailidis competed once in Bellator MMA, suffering a second round TKO loss to Jason Butcher at Bellator 128 in October of 2014. Michailidis has picked up twelve wins as a professional MMA fighter and seven of those came by way of KO/TKO.
UFC Fight Night: Kattar vs. Ige takes place on Wednesday, July 15 from Fight Island in Yas Island, Abu Dhabi with Calvin Kattar and Dan Ige headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on ESPN.
