Report: Askar Askarov Faces Brandon Moreno At UFC Fight Night Mexico City

A flyweight division attraction has been added to UFC Fight Night Mexico City according to Marc Raimondi of ESPN as Askar Askarov is in action against Brandon Moreno.

Askarov (10-0-0) is going to be making his UFC debut in this bout and does so with an undefeated streak that has lasted over six years. Askarov is a former Absolute Championship Berkut Flyweight Champion and relinquished the title upon signing with the UFC. Askarov has competed ten times as a professional MMA fighter and none of his bouts have gone the distance.

Moreno (15-5-0) is beginning his second stint with the UFC, but did win his lone bout in between promotional appearances, defeating Maikel Perez at Legacy Fighting Alliance 69. Moreno won three of five during his first run with the UFC, with those victories coming over Louis Smolka, Ryan Benoit and Dustin Ortiz. Moreno also competed on the UFC Ultimate Fighter 24, losing in the opening round of the reality show to Alexandre Pantoja.

UFC Fight Night Mexico City takes place on Saturday, September 21 from the Arena Ciudad De Mexico in Mexico City, Mexico with no main event announced at this time. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on ESPN+.
